70s & early 80s

Having the chance to live in Montreal during these years allowed me to enjoy all kinds of music genres during what was probably the richest period in music history with the peak of the Rock era, the birth of Disco, followed by the emergence of New Wave, Punk, Ska, etc.

Even though I made it later this cassette contains my memories of disco's birth in the mid 70s

One of my earliest cassettes I could find, most likely from 1979, and even though the sound quality is far from great ...

Another New Wave cassette most likely from 1979, unfortunately with not so great sound quality

Probably also from 1979, it not only contains New Wave as its name indicates but also rock'n roll

Most likely created in 1980 this cassette mainly contains disco and a few non-disco songs on side 2

Most likely from 1980 this cassette contains a mix of New Wave and Disco

Probably from 1980, it contains a good Montage, a specialty in Montreal, in the middle of side 1

Probably from 1980, it contains the Dig Mix Montage, a specialty in Montreal, in the middle of side 2

Also probably from 1980, not only New Wave but a bit or rock, punk & ska thrown in there

Another 1980 offering, with a bit of mystery on the songs list when it got wet

Probably still in 1980 but this one could have been called "Joe Jackson & The Cars fest"

Probably towards the end of 1980, with more punky accents on side 2, likely reflecting my haircut at the time

Even though I think I created it in the late 80s, this cassette contains mainly classics of the 70s

Probably from 1980, one of my rare Rock cassettes, so had to include it even though the sound quality is not perfect

Still probably from 1980 when I must have been in a "spacy" mood, mainly inspired by one of my favorite bands: Kraftwerk

Probably from 1981, mostly Disco even though I managed to slip Planet Claire in there, pretty good mixes but not optimal sound quality

Probably from 1981, a pretty pure New Wave selection with Reggae accents at the beginning of side B

Still probably from 1981, continuing the New Wave era, even including a couple of French songs

Still probably from 1981, perpetuating the New Wave era, with pretty good sound quality

Probably from 1982, it arbitrarily marks the end of the early 80s in this section
