All my Mixes are now also on Mixcloud

Dear friends,

For those who prefer it, I am glad to announce that all my Mixes on my website are now also on Mixcloud.

To play them from Mixcloud you have 2 options:

1. From my website quick access menu (https://pascaldj.com/quick-access/) pick your music genre as usual and then at the top you will find my Mixcloud playlist, in which you just have to click ▷ to listen to all my Mixes of this genre:

2. Directly click https://www.mixcloud.com/pascal-jak/ and just scroll down to the Mix you want, or better choose a playlist from the drop-down menu below and click ▷ Play all

For you to listen to Mixcloud is entirely free and there is no need to register or anything, except if you want to use extra functionality like creating your own “favorites list”, etc. for which you need to register, which you can do for free or through Facebook.

For those of you who don’t know it, Mixcloud is an online music streaming service that allows for the listening and distribution of DJ mixes, radio shows and podcasts, which are crowdsourced by its registered users. Mixcloud has 20 million monthly active users and over 1 million minutes of content are uploaded each day, and pays all rights holders (artists, labels, songwriters, publishers).

New The Stranglers Mix

Pascal's Music Mix - The Stranglers - Cover

Dear friends.

To honour Dave Greenfield, The Stranglers keyboard player who died earlier this week at the age of 71 after testing positive for Covid-19, showing as they sang so well “Life Shows No Mercy”, and to answer my old friend Claude’s request, I offer you this new Mix you can listen to in Favourite Artists Music Mixes:

I hope you enjoy and stay safe!

RIP Dave with your keyboard.

“Sound Sculpture” in my Mixes

Dear friends.

A friend of mine asked me recently why I do not produce more new Mixes these days given the fact I am stuck at home, so here is a bit of an explanation.

On top of the obvious songs selection, order and mixing, which are actually the easy parts, I spend a lot of time doing what I like to call “Sound Sculpture”, which consists of adjusting the sound level within each song, as shown in the example above by the fluctuating line in the middle that represents the volume. This gives a smoother listening experience by for example lowering the volume in the parts of the song where the singer screams or any other big variations, this of course depends a lot on the song and is normally more intricate that in the example above, but bottom line I do some on every song in my Mixes, which is why it takes me on average 2 days to create each Mix, so please bear with me.

Pascal’s Music history, statistics and future

Pascal's Music

Dear friends.

When I first started the Pascal’s Music website at the end of 2017 it was mainly to share with my friends my old music cassettes I digitized and memorabilia, but given the poor sound quality of some of these cassettes I was easily convinced to replace them by new Music Mixes. But when I started, I soon realized I had so much music I would like to share it became a much bigger project of basically creating an anthology of music.

Now some two and a half years later the website main purpose has become to share these Music Mixes I keep creating and already have 111 on there in various music genres as shown here:

for a total of nearly 152 hours, yes almost a week, and 2,164 songs.

Even though I am done covering some genres like Disco, New Wave and Synth Pop, I not only still have a lot to offer in other genres like House, Dance, Techno, etc. but will eventually also cover new genres like Punk, Post-Punk, Reggae, etc. I haven’t started yet, so I will continue producing new Music Mixes, but most likely for the near future focusing on the House genre I have so many songs to mix. And who knows one day I might even finally get back to the memorabilia part of the website I neglected.

My target audience has always been my friends that as shown by these statistics on my website views show where most of them are located:

but if you like my website feel free to share it with your friends, as in those days of isolation there has never been a better time to listen to music to cheer you up.

Time to get back to creating new Music Mixes.

As always, I hope you enjoy!

A lot more Mixes coming soon

My vinyls

Dear friends. I just want to let you know that the reason you haven’t heard from me in a while is that I am currently going through all my vinyl records collection, of which you can see a small part above, to collect all the music for new Music Mixes.

In the meantime you can listen to my existing ones in various genres of music at Music Mixes.

I hope you enjoy!

Launch of my music website

To share my love of music, I just launched my new music website: pascmusic.1dunia.net that for the time being mainly contains my old audio cassettes from 1979 to 1994 I digitized and you can listen to, but I will keep updating it with more music, so if you like music from those years like New Wave, Disco, House, or a bit of Latin, Rock and Reggae go visit it, bookmark it to return to it when you want, and if you want to be informed of future updates subscribe to my blog via email on the right.
